Astiz Lab

Laboratory of Circadian Physiology | Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience

Elena Taranco

BSc Biochemistry student - University of Navarra (Spain)

I joined the Circadian Physiology Lab as an intern. I have just completed my BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Navarra, where I participated in an intensive research training program that allowed me to collaborate with the Department of Neuroscience and Genetics. That experience was key to discovering my passion about this field, and it motivated me to seek an internship at neuroscience-focused center such as ACHUCARRO.
In the laboratory, I am having the opportunity to train in techniques such as molecular biology in cells and tissues, confocal microscopy, and single-cell transcriptomics data analysis, as well as discovering the field of circadian rhythms, with all the implications at the theoretical, molecular, and functional levels.
In September, I will begin a Master's degree in Neuroscience at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), eager to continue delving deeper into this field that interests me more and more.
Outside the laboratory, I love everything that has to do with nature and adrenaline: climbing, rafting, camping... if it's outdoors and involves some adventure, there I am!
